DAVID MAKHATELI
Former Principal Dancer of the Royal Ballet & Houston Ballet, Grand Audition

A Graduate of the Tbilisi State Ballet Institute and the Royal Ballet School. After Graduation he was offered a contract with the Birmingham Royal Ballet (United Kingdom), a year later Mr. Makhateli moved to Dutch National Ballet, Amsterdam (Netherlands) and then to the Houston Ballet (USA) as a soloist, becoming a Principal Dancer shortly after. Before joining The Royal Ballet in 2003, he was invited by Monica Mason (Artistic Director of the Royal Ballet) as a Guest Artist to dance the roles of Des Grieux and Romeo in Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s “Manon” and “Romeo & Juliet”. In 2007 was promoted to the Principal dancer of The Royal Ballet. Mr. Makhateli is known worldwide and has performed in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagoya), Europe, United States, Brazil, Cuba, China, Korea, Panama, Georgia and in United Kingdom for her Majesty the Queen and the Royal family.
Currently, Mr. Makhateli is a co-founder and Artistic director of D&D Art Productions and Grand Audition. With the company, he organized numerous International Ballet Galas and Festivals all over the globe such as: “Meet the Stars”, “Nureyev and Friends”, “La Nuit des Etoiles”, “Stars with Maya Plisetskaya”, “Kremlin Ballet Festival” and other…

Mr. Makhateli Organized & Directed International Ballet Master Classes for students – in Brussels (Belgium),Panama City (Panama),Tokyo, Osaka (Japan),Barcelona (Spain). He is also founder and creator of the only grand scale ballet audition platform in the world “Grand Audition”, which helps graduate dancers and young artists to find the jobs. In 2015 he was invited to Panama to set and choreograph new production of “ The Nutcracker ”. David Makhateli is also a Guest invited teacher of The Royal Ballet (London, UK), Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux (France), Het National Opera and Ballet, (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Finnish National Ballet (Helsinki, Finland), National Ballet of Panama (Panama), ABT Studio Company (USA), Paris Opera Ballet (France) and Swedish Royal Ballet.
